Simon Andersen

Simon Andersen (1946–2013) was an Irish-born origami artist who made Denmark his home. A poet and sculptor at heart, he saw origami as more than folding paper. It was a way of shaping emotion, form, and spirit. His bird models, in particular, carried a quiet poetry: simple in appearance, yet filled with life and grace.

Over the years, Simon co-founded an origami gallery with his partner Agnete and later lived in Northern Jutland, where he folded, wrote, and exchanged thoughtful letters with friends in the community. His legacy is one of depth and sensitivity, reminding us that every fold can be both sculpture and poem, and that origami can speak as much to the heart as to the hands.
