Let’s learn how to fold an origami Easter egg.

This is a very simple model that comes together in just a few folds. In fact, you only need about 7 steps and less than five minutes to make one. That makes it a great little project for kids, beginners, or anyone who wants something quick and relaxing to fold.

The shape is clean and slightly rounded, which works really well for an egg. Once you make a few, they start to look great together, especially if you use patterned or colorful papers.

Because it’s so quick to fold, this model is perfect if you want to decorate for Easter, make a small garland, or simply fill a table with cheerful paper eggs.

Origami Easter Egg Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Difficulty: Easy – Beginner level 1
  • Folding time: Less than 5 minutes

Recommended Paper

15×15 cm (6×6 in) Kami or smaller

Step 1

origami easter egg step 1
origami easter egg diagram step 1

Start with the white side facing up in a diamond position. Fold in half along the vertical diagonal, then unfold.

Step 2

origami easter egg step 2
origami easter egg diagram step 2

Fold the left and right edges to meet the vertical centerline.

Step 3

origami easter egg diagram step 3

Fold the bottom corner up along the dashed line. The bottom corner should land slightly above the horizontal line where the layers meet.

Step 4

origami easter egg diagram step 4

Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner from Step 3.

Step 5

origami easter egg diagram step 5

Fold the left and right corners inward. There is no exact reference point, just fold them evenly and symmetrically.

Step 6

origami easter egg diagram step 6

Fold the top left and right corners inward. Again, there is no specific reference point, just keep both sides even.

Step 7

origami easter egg diagram step 7

Turn the model over.

🥚 Folding tip: Gently fold the model in half to check if your folds are symmetric and adjust as needed.

And that’s it, your origami Easter egg is ready.

This is one of those models that’s hard to stop making once you get started. Since each one only takes a few minutes, it’s easy to fold a whole collection in different colors and patterns.

If you try it, feel free to share your eggs in the comments. I’d love to see the papers you choose or how you use them for decorations.

Floral Swirls is a modular origami model designed by Madhura Gupta. It’s built from just one circle of paper, divided into four units, which interlock to form this smooth, flowing, pinwheel-like flower.

It’s a very easy and satisfying model to fold, and the final result is light, elegant, and surprisingly sturdy. As you can see in the photo, the curved petals tuck into one another in a gentle spiral that catches the light beautifully. It makes a lovely decoration for a gift, a table setting, or even a handmade card.

Origami Floral Swirls Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Difficulty: Easy – Beginner level 2

Cut out a circle from a rectangular or square sheet of paper.

🌸 Folding tip: You can either draw a circle with a circular template, such as a plate or a pair of compasses, and then cut along the circle. You can also use a cutter compass as I do in the video.

Fold the circle in half vertically, then unfold.

Step 3

origami floral swirls paper prep step 3

Step 2

origami floral swirls assembly step 2
origami floral swirls diagram assembly step 2

Slide the corner of the right unit under the edge of the left unit so that it touches the circled corner.

🌸 Folding tip: You can use paper clips to stop the units from moving. This will make the assembly and folding steps easier.

Step 3

origami floral swirls assembly step 3
origami floral swirls diagram assembly step 3

Rotate the units 90° counterclockwise.

Step 4

origami floral swirls diagram assembly step 4

Take another unit and repeat Step 2. Make sure the circled point is above the new unit.

Easy to fold yet incredibly elegant, it’s the ideal project for a calming creative break or a stylish decoration.

Choose your favorite patterned paper to make each butterfly uniquely yours. Smaller papers (around 3×3 in or 7.5×7.5 cm) also work wonderfully if you’d like to add these butterflies to your indoor plants. They’ll appear ready to flutter off the leaves!

It’s the perfect time to enjoy a relaxing craft as the temperatures cool down and the autumn leaves begin to fall.

This origami snail is an interesting project that fits the season’s mood, with the soft rain outside and the golden leaves scattered on the ground.

While this paper snail is suitable for beginners, it’s definitely more challenging than other beginner models, like the origami leaf.

The step-by-step instructions will guide you through interesting folds. You’ll be swirling the paper to create the antennae and stretching the paper to make the snail’s shell.

Origami Snail Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Difficulty: Easy – Beginner Level 5
  • Folding time: 15 minutes

Recommended Paper

15×15 cm (6×6 in) Kami

Step 1

origami snail diagram step 2

Turn the paper over and fold it horizontally and vertically in half. Then unfold.

Step 3

origami snail diagram step 3

Rotate the paper 45 degrees clockwise. Then, fold along the dotted lines using the existing creases to create a square base.

Step 4

origami snail paper fold step 4
origami snail diagram step 4

Fold and unfold the right flap to the center line.

🐌 Folding tip: If you’re already familiar with squash folds, you can skip this step.

Step 7

origami snail paper fold step 7
origami snail diagram step 7

Fold the right flap along the dotted line so the angle is reduced by about one-third.

Step 8

origami snail paper fold step 8

Fold the top flap’s right edge to meet the centerline.

Step 9

origami snail paper fold step 9
origami snail diagram step 9

Fold the top left flap in half so its left edge lines up with the centerline.

Step 10

origami snail paper fold step 10
origami snail diagram step 10

Once again, fold the top left flap in half so its left edge lines up with the centerline.

Step 11

origami snail diagram step 11

Turn the model over and repeat Steps 7 to 10.

Step 12

origami snail diagram step 12

Flip the top left flap over to the right side, then repeat on the other side.

Step 13

origami snail diagram step 13

Repeat Steps 7 to 10 on both sides. This time:

  • On the left flap, fold it into thirds by making two equal folds. Each fold turns in about one-third of the angle.
  • On the right flap, fold it into thirds too, but do it by folding in half twice.

Step 14

origami snail diagram step 14

Flip the top right flap over to the left side, then repeat on the other side.

Step 15

origami snail diagram step 15

Now focus on the top of the model. Carefully make an inside reverse fold on each of the two side flaps. These will become the snail’s antennae.

Step 16

origami snail diagram step 16

On each side, tuck the two center flaps inward so they’re hidden inside the model.

Step 17

origami snail paper fold step 17
origami snail diagram step 17

Gently lift the snail’s antennae so they point forward, in front of the head. Then, fold the bottom corner upward along the dotted line. This will make the shell stand upright.

Step 18

origami snail diagram step 18

Swirl and shape the antennae however you like.

Step 19

origami snail diagram step 19

Gently open and stretch the vertical layers until they puff out like a balloon. This will form the snail’s shell.

🐌 Folding tip: Go slowly here. Use both hands to shape the shell evenly without tearing the paper. A little patience makes a big difference!

Shell Yeah! You Completed the Snail!
